What is the BOI?
The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) is the government agency that grants incentives to businesses meeting its promotion criteria, to encourage investment in Thailand. Approved applicants receive a promotion certificate that sets out the incentives and the conditions they must follow.
Incentives investors commonly look for
- Corporate income tax exemption or reduction for a set period
- Import duty exemption or reduction on machinery and, in some cases, raw materials
- Permission for foreign nationals to own land for the promoted business
- Permission to bring in foreign specialists and skilled workers, subject to conditions
- Foreign shareholding, subject to the conditions of each activity type
Actual incentives vary by activity type, location and the conditions the BOI announces from time to time. We verify the details for you before filing.
